Jalapeno Beer Bread

Spice up your meals with this easy beer bread recipe. With no kneading or yeast required as that comes from the beer, what's not to love!


  • 330ml lager of your choice, we use Stella (room temperature)

  • 408g self-raising flour

  • 50g caster sugar

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • A handful of jalapenos, chopped

  • 1 tbsp olive oil, for greasing


  • Preheat the oven to 180°C. Lightly grease a 2lb loaf tin with olive oil

  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt and beer

  • Fold in the ¾ of the chopped jalapenos

  • Spoon the batter into your loaf tin and place the remaining jalapenos on top

  • Bake the beer bread in the oven for 40 - 45 minutes until a skewer comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs clinging to it

  • Leave the bread to cool for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely

Slice and enjoy x
