Terry's Chocolate Orange Brownies
You always know Christmas is fast approaching when the Terry’s Chocolate Oranges are positioned at the front of the store AND on Tesco’s Clubcard price deal.
These brownies are so decadent and fudgy, the only way a brownie should be! And I will pre-warn you now, you may need to pack these up for friends and family otherwise like me, you may have a Bruce Bogtrotter from Matilda moment 😂 (if you don’t know what I’m referring to, google it).
Ingredients:
200g butter
200g dark chocolate
275g caster sugar
100g plain flour
3 large eggs
50g cocoa powder
1 chocolate orange
Method:
Preheat your oven to 160°C and grease & line a 9x9x2.5" baking tin
Chop segments of one chocolate orange in half, place in a bowl and put in the freezer until ready to use later
In a pan, melt the butter and dark chocolate together and then set aside
In a large bowl or stand mixer, add the sugar and eggs and whisk until they become fluffy and airy and have roughly doubled in size
Add the buttery chocolate to the eggs mixture and then fold in the plain flour and cocoa powder, being careful to not knock out the air
Remove your chocolate orange from the freezer and fold into the mixture
Spread evenly into your tin and then bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes - this does vary based on your oven
You will know when it's done when a skewer comes out more or less clean - you want there to have a little stickiness on it to ensure you have fudgy, dense, decadent brownies but certainly not a wet mixture
To finish, you could melt a little more chocolate and drizzle over them, topped with a chocolate orange segment, or simply enjoy them straight out of the tin!
